Holi (Hindi), or Phagwa (Bhojpuri), also called the festival of colors, is a popular Hindu festival, the most pagan festival of the Indian calendar, the day when anything goes and plays the entire country to paint colors.

Darjeeling, the British colonial dream

It was in 1828 when a British army officer stationed in India came to Darjeeling, and far from home as was seen in those inaccessible lands a reflection of his beloved England.

Determined to make this place a beautiful colonial city to the rest of the British, it was proposed to build a railway to cover the 53 km from New Jalpaiguri and save the difference of more than 2000 km.
