To the south of Egypt, near the border with Sudan find one of the great treasures of Egypt and of all humanity: the site of Abu Simbel.
The temples were carved into the rock during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II, in the thirteenth century. C., as a memorial to the pharaoh and his wife Nefertari, to commemorate his alleged victory at the Battle of Kadesh and show their power Nubian neighbors.
Although construction is one of the many feats of the Egyptian empire, no less feat was later transferred.
In 1968, the complex was relocated to an artificial hill, built on land next level located on Lake Nasser future to prevent remain submerged after the construction of the Aswan Dam, the reservoir formed by the waters of the Nile
